Just rescued a purebred German shepherd , Can someone help me determine his age?

Hi!
I rescued Balto in the beginning of November, supposedly 1.5 year old german shepherd.
I was told he was a purebred and the vet said the same but I have many fellow German Shepherd breeders around here tell me that he looks younger than a 1.5 year old, some have asked if he was 6 months old- 11 months?

He doesn't bark at strangers, he is well behaved and housebroken but he likes to whine alot and I'd say he was a little underweight when I rescued him,but he is looking much better and eating again.
He was an outside only dog so I think he is very thankful to be indoors for the first time in awhile, especially since winter is approaching/here.

I have pictures of him in my album, how old do you guys think he is?

I am no expert but looks like he could be between 1 and 1.5. Congrats on the adoption. How tall at the shoulders and weight? Ive heard full grown for males at the shoulders is around 26"...again im no expert and thats probably just an average. But my 1.5 y/o female looks around the same size.

and he is about 23'' at the shoulders, I was guessing he was atleast 1 years old.
As for weight, 66 pounds but I think he has gained a little more weight as to when I first rescued him, his ribs had been poking out slightly but now they are more hidden.

I think many are thinking he is young because of his size. I would guess from how white his teeth are that he looks to be around a year, but its hard to tell without seeing the rest of them.

Until my female really filled out most people thought she was a puppy, a lot of people think GSD's are supposed to be a giant breed of dog, not medium-large breed. My female most people think is on the small side, but she is like 24.5" at the shoulder and 75 pounds....so I don't think she is very small.....

either way he looks like a gorgous boy.

Those pics are hard to see him....take them on his level and side view. If his tail is long in proportion to his body and thin in coat, I'd say he is younger than a year. Many times rescues look older because they are in poor condition. But usually puppy's are easier to guess age. Cute pup, thanks for saving him!

I tried to take some more pics of him from a side view.
He likes to move a lot so it is a bit of a challenge.
I've added the pictures to my album.
