I have no idea, but I've read that dogs eat grass to help themselves puke. Heck I sure don't know, but when my dogs eat grass... yeah... they puke. Every time.

I trained outside yesterday, and the snow was melted on the field we were at. Karlo took that opportunity to chow on the long grass, even dormant, he wanted to eat it!
I feed green tripe, you'd think that would satisfy his need for greens.... |

I have raised a lot of dogs over the years and they all have ate grass. Sometimes they have thrown up afterwards but not always. I have come to the conclusion that they only throw up when they eat it and their stomache is already upset beforehand.

I've also heard that when a dog eats grass it means something is missing in their diet.
I don't think either one of those are necessarily correct. My Golden used to eat grass all the time and never threw up after. She would pick the longest pieces and chomp them. She never ate large quantities though, just a few pieces at a time. |

One of my dogs will eat grass. He loves it, and it does not make him throw up. But oddly, he doesn't care for my salad greens. I would think that arugula would be more appealing than grass, but apparently not.

![]() Abby, who should be named Dyson because she sucks up about everything has not had either issue with her occasional grass diet supplement. Nothing has made it all the way through intact and she has never thrown up from it (I've had her about seven months now). Heidi had a really sensitive stomach...I wonder if that might have had something to do with it? She's probably watching from above wondering why the new dog gets some food she didn't. Well, Heidi, I still miss you terribly, but you got the runs any time your diet was changed in the least bit, so I had to be really careful. Sorry baby girl...hope you forgive me at the bridge.
