Moving to Charlotte, NC

Hey everyone,
I'm moving to Charlotte, NC very soon to take a position at Presbyterian Hospital. Ideally I would like to find a place near downtown that could accommodate myself and my four-legged friend Cooper. The only issue is that he is "black listed" from breed restrictions almost everywhere. I'm assuming I might have to sit tight until a private owner posts on craigslist, because it looks like an apartment/townhome is out of the question.

He isn't an aggressive dog, usually very calm unless there's a ball, frisbee, or cheese involved. I was wondering if any fellow GSD owners in Charlotte had any ideas about finding a place to stay. I will be starting the first week in March...

Also is there a dog park that a lot of GSD owners meet up at in or around the city, it would be nice to find a local group. Cooper loves going to the dog park.
