Default I need help in this situation

Well I went outside to let Dia go bathroom. There was a stray walking about in the apartment complex. She saw it before I did and she was being very protective of me, not agressive, protective. But that was fine, I was actually happy to see her protective side, normally she sees another dog and is automatically like, lets go play mommy... the problem is there is a stray in the complex, and the apt complex has not been able to do anything about it, and animal control is no help.. they said "there is no leash law in lamar county so we can't help you."
no quite sure what to do, it is a rather large dog, bigger than dia and me being the overly kind and worried for it.. should i leave it alone and have it fend for itself in the elements of the apt complex, aka cars and other hazards. Or should i try to trap it.. or let the apartment management continue to unproductive.

I'm really don't know enough to help. Is the dog friendly? Is there a shelter open? What would you do with it if you trapped it? If it's friendly and there's a humane society available, I'd try to take it there. Does it have a collar or tags?

Do what I do, catch it and worry about where to bring it after you get it!! Thats if its friendly enough to catch...if you can get close to it and its hesitant but not showing any aggression, squat so your more level with it and it might just come to you--I've done this a million times Biscuits work too!! Good Luck!!

I was going to try to lure it with some wet food but i honestly dont know of its friendly enough to catch. It was so far away when dia saw it. I did not see any tags. And The shelter is closed until tomorrow. if it comes back around i will be ready for it. Hopefully its friendly.
