Default Whining!

Anyone else have a GSD who just whines too much?

I have a squeaky toy for a GSD. She is a female, almost a year old (spayed last friday). She will just stare at me and whine. She will pace, then come back to staring at me and whining. She whines in her crate. She will whine for seemingly no apparent reason, even after having been fed/watered and taken outside to relieve herself.

I think it is an attention thing. She will stare at me and whine, eventually attempting to crawl into my lap to put her head on my chest. We are working on it...she is learning that crawling on top of me does not equal pets. Sitting next to me like a civilized dog does equal pets.

She has really upped the amount of whining for the past month or so. It has become excessive since her spay. I can't blame her though, I would be whining about that too

Is this a GSD thing? A lady GSD thing? My 2 males have never caught my attention with it...

My parents bought Echo a hot pink collar with "Whiny Little Bitch" embroidered on it...

The more you ignore him, the louder he whines. He can go ALL DAY.

GSDs are simply drama queens.

My boy, Smitty, is a whiner.

He's a "very busy dog" always has something more interesting to see, sniff and do and he lets me know by whining.

Drives me crazy sometimes....my energizer bunny dog.

Onyx and Karlo whine to go out, to eat, to annoy me.
Kacie has hardly ever whined and when she does it is usually because of the cat.
I enjoy wine to tolerate the whine.

If the whining has considerably increased, I may wonder if something is wrong, but all my GSDs have been a bit whiny, particularly when they want something. And that can include just wanting me to look back at their penetrating stare while I am working or something. Even more irksome, is when you ignore the whining and they up it to a short bark, thinking maybe you didn't hear the whine.
