Hello,
Today, I had a bit of a shock at something although I am probably just being over-anxious. I was crawling down on the floor when my dog began to kneel down with her front legs and stare at me suspiciously. After about 10 seconds of staring she ran over to me but she stopped when I got up after having quite a shock as I thought she was being aggressive. But, when she ran she just seemed to run non-aggressively without barking at me or anything. It's just that I was worried that she was looking at me as if In some aggressive stance It was quite a similar stare to the border collie in this picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ke...tchcropped.JPG |

You were in a play stance to your dog couldn't believe it's good fortune!

Sounds like she thought you were in a play stance... so she went into hers!

Did your dog look like this? (Random image I found online)
![]() Sounds like you're describing a play bow. It has nothing to do with suspicion, rather- it's a sign of "play mode" in a lot of dogs.

Just a note-
Dogs very rarely just get aggressive with their humans, they are not wired for that. Now rough play can ramp up to levels that us thin skinned people find unpleasant.

I occasionally will get down on the floor and do a "play bow" for my dogs. They go wild with excitement.

Sometimes I will bend down and and go at my dog like a robot and she goes into automatic play mode like that. Eyes get huge, ears go back and she smiles. She also does it when her friends around the neighborhood come by.
