Default For those of you who can't keep your houdini's in their crate

Some of you probably know about the epic battle between me and Sasha and her crate. Well, after she ate my butter dish I decided something had to change. So me and one of my mom's friends rigged up this:

What we did was drill three holes on the top and bottom side of her crate on the part outside the door. We then drilled four holes and put bolts through them on part of the crate inside the door. I don't remember the name for the rods I put through the holes in front of the door but they are similar (but a bit more sturdy than) what I believe is called "all thread" ?

Basically this prevents her from ripping the door off.

I also attached dog leash clips to the inside of her crate on what would be the left side of this picture that can clip onto the rods in case she tried to bend the door that way (though it's sturdy enough without them that that's really not necessary) and I've never used them.

Just thought I'd post this because I know others are going through the same thing. This won't work if you have a chewer that would chew through the plastic.

Thanks for posting this! When I was dumber I had Echo in a wire crate. Couldn't figure out how he kept getting out... so we spied on him. He would bend the bars apart just enough to hook a tooth through the latch and undo it. When we tried the plastic crate, he'd just bang against the door until it popped open... I'll definitely have to try this. Thanks!

No problem! I've received such good advice from this place that I thought I'd give a little back.
