So you guys know my Wolf is a 7 month old german shepherd. He's not fixed. We just moved into a house in Hammonton NJ about a month ago. My neighbor has a Weimerimer (I know I spelled that wrong). I don't know how old she is, but she isn't fixed. My neighbor lets her run around the neighborhood without really keeping an eye on her. She keeps coming on my property. I'm doing the best I can to keep Wolf away from her, he's not trying to get at her or anything YET but I don't want there to be a problem in the future. She always tries to go up to Wolf but when I see her coming I take Wolf inside. Even if I shoo her away, she comes back as soon as Wolf is out. If I go to the neighbor's house they pretend to not be home if I knock on the door (they're like with everyone). Today the dog, Lily, came into my yard, I rushed Wolf inside as usual, but I caught a glimpse of the owner. I BOLTED to him and nicely said, "Excuse me, hi! Lily keeps coming onto my yard while Wolfy is out, and he's not fixed and she's in hear and I'm afraid something's going to happen." He cut me off and said, "Oh I don't care if he eats her! It'd be doing me a favor!" I was shocked and didn't really know what to say, he started to walk away so I blurted out, "No he's a VERY friendly dog he would never hurt her he LOVES other dogs and people, but I'm afraid of an accidental litter happening, and that wouldn't be a good thing." The guy called his dog, the dog didn't come and he just walked away and went into the house....
Sooo...what should I do???? I am in the process of saving for a fence (will be up by early spring-I have alot to fence lol), but even with the fence that might not stop him cause I've read all your stories lol.

KZoppa - we think alike!
Maybe contact the local animal control in your area? There are probably municipal codes that require dogs be leashed, or at the very least supervised, when they're in public. Clearly, talking to the owner isn't going to solve any problems - maybe hitting them where it hurts, with fines and visits from the authorities, might help.

Gosh, that is a tough situation, especially since the owner doesn't seem to care. Is he married? Maybe you would have better luck if you spoke to his partner.

Wow, that sucks. Hopefully your fence will keep them apart. I remember how excited I was when we put our fence up-even if it set us back $5,000-but being able to let my dog run leash free in our yard was worth it and not having to worry about stray dogs coming up to him.

my dog is always on a leash or at most a 50 foot leed so we can play but he is ALWAYS in my sight and never far. i'm not sure if he's married. he's very secusive and doesn't talk to anyone. if he sees us, i wave and say "hi how are you" but he puts his head down and walks away. i was thinking animal control but i was afraid of the dog being put in a shelter, or causing trouble with the neighbor...i'm stuck here forever with my mortgage LOL i don't want any enemies i feel like i have no choice though

What a jerk. Obviously he doesn't care about his dog- at all. I agree with Diane, pick her up and take her to animal control.

you may be worried about the dog going to animal control but it's still better then being hit by a car or poisoned and slowly dieing from the poison from someone tired of the dog on their property. If the guy doesn't care I would definitely go the animal control route and MAKE SURE they knew who the owner was so they could keep fining him.

agree. Plus the guy said it would save him the trouble if she was gone. Not someone who really cares about the dog and obviously doesnt care about getting along with his neighbors if he's unwilling to correct the situation.
