Default USA Sieger Show- and others.

Since the 2012 Sieger show is in Indy, and I live in Indy- I'm going! (Actually, I just sent them an email asking if spectators are allowed.) But honestly- all the different GSD shows confuse me, and that's what I wanted to ask about in this thread.

Is the Sieger show a "show line" type of show, much like I'd expect to see at the GSDCA Nationals? The Sieger show is hosted by O.G. Indianapolis Schutzhund und Polizei which is definitely not a "show line" crowd as I see it. Not to mention that the Sieger show is put on by the United Schutzhund Clubs of America. I don't typically associate SchH with show line dogs. What I am really asking, I guess, is what are the "key" shows for show line vs working line dogs? I really want to see some SchH in action with top-notch dogs. That's something I've never experienced before, and I hear it is a sight to see! Can someone outline the "big" shows and briefly describe what one might expect to see, including what lines you might expect to see at said shows?

If I'm not asking the right questions here, it's because I don't understand the differences in all these GSD shows...

I do pd k9 handler training with show lines and working lines. I am very confused about your show line opinions and wanting to go to the sieger which will definitely be show lines. All dogs are welcome and I have shown my working lines in the past it is not for one or the other. many working line owners choose not to show is all. I have V rated working lines from siegers. I have never felt my dogs were slighted against for being working lines just like my show lines have earned their working credentials just fine.

If you do not like looking at show lines, this is probably not the event for you if that is what you are asking.

you most likely won't find it there. There might a be a dog or two that actually has some gas in the thank, the rest are pretty disappointing if you're looking for top notch Schutzhund in action. It's a conformation show like the rest, just a bigger stage, but mostly the same actors. any bitework is a tiny portion of the show with 2 quick bites and very little of anything else.

Yes, protection is there, but very short. Some dogs will show very well in protection but it's over so quickly. There will be a lot of running around in circles, or for the spectators a lot of watching dogs run in circles. I've found that if you don't really know what you are looking at, every dog just appears to be another pretty GSD.

I don't know what "sieger" means- so it makes sense my questions could cause confusion. FWIW- I stated that my question was probably confusing... As crackem said- I want to see "top notch Schutzhund in action." It would seem that a show hosted by the United Schutzhund Clubs of America would be a fitting place to see that (at least based on their name). But I don't know anything about the USCA, or WUSV, or SV, or GSDCA, or any of the other clubs that are mentioned regularly on this forum. (Well, I do know [I think] that the GSDCA doesn't offer anything SchH related.) Are all of those four clubs show line biased? Where do you go to see working line stuff?

It's not that my "opinion" of show line vs working line has anything to do with it. I just want to see working lines in action... I don't know which clubs/shows offer that.

There won't be any Schutzhund there. You have some good clubs, with some good dogs in your area. Might want to check them out.

Thanks for the response mthurston0001. I do know that O.G. and also Sportwaffen are around here. And admittedly, I have not made it out to either. But my question could be rephrased: Who hosts the most spectacular SchH nationals or worlds competitions? What show would one go to in order to witness that (in the US)?

both USA and WDA hold schutzhund nationals and the quality of dogs is the same. Just depends on the year, time of year, the location etc as to how many competitors there are.

It is a conformation show and not a trial. The dogs are not being titled they are just having a courage bite as formality. I have seen these same dogs at trials and at conformation shows and it is a world f difference and the dogs treat them differently. If you wish to see schutzhund that is not the place.

The AWDF nationals have the biggest turnout I'd say.
