Default OMG I'm exhausted

I need your expertise. I have owned American breeds before. And they have always had kind of a FU additude, ( sorry for profanity)BUT are german breds worse in this? I have never had a GSD this hard to handle. I will deal with it, but hehe I need a nap right now. She's been very hard to house break. ( 6 months old) But i try to let her out later at night and she won't come back in the house. She doesn't run away but she just doesn't come back in. /sigh

Don't let her out with no leash. Use a long leash (20') so you can reel her back in.

She is 6 months old, that is how they act at 6 months.
Whether she is ASL or not should have no bearing on her housebreaking.
That should only take a few days if done right.
Never had a dog that didn't house break within a week and no harsh treatment was involved.

Have no expertise to offer, but mine is going on 6 months and we still are working on house training also. Mine also is from Germany, though I've never owned a GSD of any kind before....but my terriers, labs and boxer/pit were much easier to potty train. However, my GSD pup is much, much brighter and quicker to pick up on all the other "commands" than my other pups were, lol, maybe it's a trade-off??!

I'm really surprised about the housebreaking issue. I didn't have a hard time at all. Kopper was housebroken completely by about 12 weeks.

Me either. Rocket had exactly two accidents in the house. We got him at 9.5 weeks, and those were in the first few days. Never had another one after that, and he's almost 7 months.

I guess I don't know what to offer someone at this stage in that dept. Good luck, though.

I have not had problems -- usually within the first week of a pup going to the new home they are house clean.
Of course they are supervised .

that leaves me to ask did you get the pup from a place where they were particular about keeping the pup's room clean . I have always felt that my pups contributed to their cleanliness , being very particular to go only on the papers - often a pup had a favourite corner or spot to go on.
