I will be moving to Liverpool, NY, right outside Syracuse, NY shortly (2 weeks give or take), and while I don't yet have a GSD in my family, I do have a cat and plans to add a GSD in the future.
Does anyone know of a reliable vet around Syracuse? My "wishlist" is for a vet who charges fair rates, has a clean facility, competent/helpful staff and preferably someone who won't look at me as if I have 3 heads when I tell them I plan to feed raw for the rest of my cat's life and my prospective GSD's life. I know I can't have everything, but if anyone has any good/great experiences with vets in that area, I'd appreciate the info! Mods, I wasn't 100% sure where to post. Please move this if I've placed it incorrectly within the forum. Thanks!

I have the perfect vet for you! Well, not perfect......but the only vet I know of that is pro RAW and/or pro kibble. We've been with Marcellus Vet Hospital for almost 3 years.
You can PM me if you want any more details. Somet hings kind of annoy me...one of the techs can have attitude on the phone, but she's fine in person. I guess some people just have 'tude on the phone? They don't like to run a bunch of tests and try to screw you with all these lab fees and try to treat things with a more conservative approach.

I lived in Camillus and I took our cats to Stack Vet and we used Dr. Congel. I really, really loved her and the biggest downside to moving was losing her as our vet.

Who is the trainer, Holland?
Leah, that vet looks really nice. Mine is quite a hike out to Marcellus for me. Maybe I'll look into them just to simplify my drive!

Yeah, check them out! I bet Dr. Congel still remembers our cat Eve that got really sick (some kind of awful skin thing) and passed away. She was so nice afterwards. She sent us a flower and a card, and they did a paw impression and took care of sending her remains to be cremated for us. It was really very touching and it meant a lot to us that she did that. She has a really good manner too, very intelligent and quick thinking.

Wow, thanks for the additional input! I'll be sure to check out both vets, and Holland, as soon as I'm ready to add a GSD, I'll be sure to ask about the trainer.
Thank you!
