While dad and I were gone for Christmas at my sisters (4 hours) my chihuahua pooped in the middle of the living room floor..This was not the biggest surprise in the world ..it has happened before..but the surprise was Sib, my gsd going pee on the laminate floor a few feet away...Sib has never gone in the house before ..I have had her for one year on the 26th and she is 2 years old... Someone at work said it was a marking or dominance issue--beats me--Any ideas on this??? By the way she peed a BIG puddle and caused the floor to raise up some--Not good with my dad wanting to get rid of her every other day! This can Never happen again..Now when no one is home we are putting them both in their crates--I don't like doing that...Jan

My $0.02 - Big puddle = She had to go and just couldn't hold it
Dante did this a few months ago and he's 7 years old and hasn't urinated in the house since he was a puppy! I figured he must have drank a BUNCH of water right before I left for work and just couldn't hold it until I got home. I was happy it was in the kitchen and not in the living room on the carpet or the study on the hardwood floor!!

No, they both really had to go. Make sure they potty before leaving and/or crate when you aren't home. It's not dominance.

Ok, well then thank ya'll for the help---It seemed really odd to me but what do I know --that's why I come to you guys!! In answer to Paddy, you know I may not have let them out just before we left--could be all my fault! Also to Paddy, BIG CONGRATS on the new baby--Grandchildren are great --Way better than raising your own children--you can send them home when they get grumpy!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE-- Blessings, Jan

I'm with the others, crate the dogs when you aren't home. Specially the GSD. If your Dad is already not excited about having the GSD in the house, any excuses YOU give for him to continue to disapprove is not helping your situation.
