Last tuesday we were walking Daisy (GSD) and Zeus (GSD/Husky) in our neighborhood just after dark.
I saw a puppy about maybe 4 months old walking on the other side and ask my gf if she wanted to rescue it if it was a stray. She said yes and upon talking to two neighbor kids riding their bikes, it's been on the street for a while. So we struggled with our two dogs and catching this little guy who ran up and down the street for almost an hour. Finally catching him in the two kids yard. I doubled up on my leash and took our two home and my gf walk the little guy home. He was skinny and upon a vet checkup two days later it was determined he has no chip, he had no collar and no signs up in the area. Judgeing from how thin he is noone has been looking for him. I started to find a home for him sending a blast of emails out from work (got heat on that one but its worth it i think). Suffice to say we have decided yesterday (XMAS) to keep him. Initially Zeus wanted to tear his head off (leash reactive) and Daisy wasn't very thrilled at all but they all three get along after a couple days of walking together. Zeus seems to have become a big brother as the new member seems to have taken a liking to him, biting his ankles and trying to play with him. He's thin, but house trained already, playfull, very affectionate..... After much debate, meet the newest member of the pack: Hades (GSD/Rottweiler) ![]() Merry Christmas! |

You said you thought no one was looking for him because he was thin, but the neighborhood kids said he was hanging around a while so many he was thin because he'd been lost a while. Did you post ads/signs or try to look for his owner? Just because a dog is thin does not mean he doesn't have someone looking for him... Unfortunately a lot of people don't microchip or reliably keep ID on a dog (also ID tags and collars can be lost or removed.)

Congrats on the new pup! He's adorable and I am sure, very thankful for his new home safe off the streets! Thanks for taking him in instead of letting him run loose with the risk of injury.

We are going to check the Pomona Animal Shelter/SPCA and see if anyone has reported a dog matching his description missing.
Our Vet told us that they have one just like him in their kennel. The vet being about 1/2 mile or less from our house. My guess is someone had puppies and couldnt keep them and noone wanted a Rott/Shepherd mix. I asked one lady at work since she was looking for a dog and she said "Rottweiler mix, uh.... No Thanks." |

I'm not sure how old he is but it's possible that he's 6 months or more... definately going to be big. His neck is thick and paws are large and his head, well it's really big in my opinion. will post more pics |
