Default GSDs do NOT belong in the house

Got your attention, didn't I?

Its Christmas Eve and I'm together with my side of the family. I heard through the grapevine that my older brother wanted to get a GSD now (Knuckles seems to have that effect on people around me). I said to him, "So I hear you are getting a Shepherd now?". And he says not until his other dog is gone (she's getting old... it will be within a couple years). Then! Then he looks at me and says, "But mine will be outside where it belongs. German Shepherds belong outside. Mine will protect my house like it's supposed to!". (his current large dog is an inside dog...)
If he wasn't drunk, I would have gone off. Everyone around me expected me to (they told me later), but I've learned years ago never to argue with a drunk - especially him.
My dad said it best... when my brother gets his, I can put a sign on my door that says "The inside of this house is protected by a GSD, go to my brother's house - you can't steal his rose bush, but his house is fair game".

That's a great line!

I just realized the best part of my family not being dog people... I don't have to bite my tongue about their care of dogs.
