I rescued Rocco off the streets. After a consider amount of effort to locate his family by posts and door to door, I am sad for Rocco and his family, but very happy as he brings tremendous joy to me.
Does anyone know how to establish ownership/responsibilty? I'm not sure why I feel this is necessary, but I feel that I should. Thanks! |

Document that you tried to find the owner. Did you run an ad in the paper? Contact the local shelter to see if anyone reported a missing dog? Take him to the vet, establish a vet record, get a dog license.

After you have tried contacting his owner, get him microchipped. That will establish you as his legal owner.

i would put an ad in the local
paper and the city paper. tell the local police you have the dog and AC. i would also contact a few area Vets to let them know i found the dog. place some lost and found notices a the Vets office. post some signs throughout the neighboorhood. contact the local shelters. what are going to do if you come in contact with the rightfull owners?
