Pergo ... hands down in my book. Easy to install, easy cleanup, practically scratch proof, takes a beating and still looks great ...
I've raised two teenagers and two German Shepherds on my Pergo and it still looks almost as good as the day it was installed.

I see this is your first post ... Welcome to the GSD Forum !

We have an "outdoor living room" on the deck... on Saturday mornings I hose it off, put dish soap on a sponge, scrub it all off and rinse with the hose... and I think to myself, why can't the rest of house be like that???

niordian, in our dog room we used Traffic Master Allure flooring from Home Depot (about $2/sq ft). It's pretty good if you don't mind "fake" flooring. From looking at it, it's hard to tell it's not real wood, has the grooves and everything and installed in planks.
Our house is less than a year old and we're already slowly replacing the $20k of hardwood floors with those tiles that look like ebony hardwood. Those are cool

I have tiles throughout the whole house. Easy to clean but shows every single dog/cat hair. Also really slippery for me and the dog

Two words: Stained concrete. Easy to clean, insanely cheap to do, and looks expensive as heck when it's clean.

Our contractor stated that tile was the best floor to put in when you are experiancing high traffic and dogs. I just don't see how that could be. I have tile in our bathrooms and you can see every hair in there. And it gets sticky fast from hair products.

I wanted to have concrete inlay put in and then stained. I think it's really nice looking and it would have to be easy to take care of. But the price is nearly double any other flooring and the contractor stated that the concrete absorbs smells. As he said this, he looked down and the potty stains in the carpet.

Since the hurricane two years ago, I've had 1/2 carpet and 1/2 slab in my living room. I wanted to wait till all of the remodeling was done before that final touch. Now it's time, and I still can't decide what I want. I just want what is best for our life style and the best price I can find. Shouldn't be so hard.

the allure flooring in my kitchen has taken constant puppy abuse. our room mate even uses the stories of our dogs abusing it to sell this flooring at home depot haha. Aschen and stauba make alot of sales :-). it really is wonderful, they haven't scratched it, it hasn't faded with constant washing (puppy aschen was a nightmare), and its nice to walk on. Plus, it went right over our horrible flooring without having to tear up anything. fabulous!

We pulled up all the linoleum and carpet in the living room and kitchen, removed the adhesive, and stained the concrete ourselves. Total cost was less than $350 and it took about 3 long days. The hardest part was getting the old linoleum and glue up. And it absolutely does NOT absorb or retain smells. Get a couple more quotes from people on Craigslist; unless you're doing intricate designs stained concrete is not expensive or difficult to do.
