I don't know about renters' insurance, but I do know that I've had less problem with homeowners' here in Florida. I was initially with State Farm, then went through a broker: Brightway Insurance. No problem whatsoever with the dogs here, whereas in Maryland, I had to hunt for an insurance company and then have a rep come out and meet my dogs!

I dont have insurance, but as soon I move in and when i notify Geico (my Car insurance) they send me this flyer with renters Insurance information including option to insure my pet.

You should give them a call.

If your dog has passed any classes or received any certifications, be sure and let the insurance company know. Our pups both received STAR puppy ratings then CGC certificates and we sent the copies in to our homeowners co.

I don't think my insurance company has renters insurance, but checked and Travlers of Florida and it apppears that they include pets in their renter's policy.
