What kind of training? Basic obedience for a family companion, or competing in some venue? An adult dog, or raising a puppy?

Ah, then this is what you need: Dog Star Daily
If you click on the Training Textbook link at the top of the page there is tons of great info about raising a puppy.

I highly recommend you enroll in a "puppy kindergarten" type class as soon as you can. There is a critical socialization period between 8-12 weeks old and you want to get the proper socialization done at this time.
Here is a link with good info on critical socialization periods and what you should do during them: How to socialize Here is a good link to articles about puppy training (scroll down to 'puppies'): Article links page |

A great book is Purely Positive Training; Companion to Competition by Sheila Booth.
It has a very nice section on puppy foundation training and isn't geared just for a GSD, but worth having in your library! |
