Or, just forget the AKC altogether and go with the UKC.

I'm not an expert, but I thought this year's class was (gratefully) much less extreme in terms of angulation than the GSD at Westminster in the previous 5 years, and significantly less extreme when viewed over the last 25 years. To my eye they looked cleaner coming and going, but I agree those weren't working line pasterns.
Perhaps we're seeing a move to the elusive "golden middle". I'm disappointed none of the dogs were presented on a loose lead, but I like to think that's a function of ring size and not handler magic.

It is difficult to show a GSD in those small rings.
The all breed dogs are shown a little beefier than specialty. It seems to be preferred. The coat is very fluffed too. We had to put weight on my friends male to show him all breed. They are generally less extreme than in previous years. The pendulum has swung a little ways back. |

My old Dutch is a Covy-Tucker lady...
I agree, I would LOVE to see some working type dogs in there... The dogs there appeared to be walking on their hocks... Kind of odd looking gait. I think dogs should be judged on their working ability MORE than looks.. |
