Weve been taking Charlie to a trainer to help deal with her dog reactivity. She did great. She played with an 8 month old male puppy for quite a while. the trainer gave verbal reminders and some strategic time outs . It went really well. Charlie was very good . she didn't behave aggressively throughout the entire time. Out trainer Angie has done a great Add to dictionary thinks that Charlie would do best with young dogs, pups and for right now males. I am excited that we had a good session. The next big session is on sunday when Hershey the 8 month lab comes to our house outside in the yard.
WE have done six sessions with Charlie meeting dogs in crates .walking by her on leash and she would go nuts. Last night I was worried but the trainer said that she thought it was excitement and she was right. the first dog was female and too submissive but Hershey the chocolate lab mix was her size but young and she was very gentle.
Charlie completed her six sessions and has started on her second six sessions. Our trainer has brought Hershey to our house twice now and tonight everyone was inside our house. She played and was a little domineering but once corrected and did very well. She wanted Hershey to stay with her. She has been doing lots of walks in different places ,saw a horse out at the Canfield Fairgrounds. I'm trying to give her lots of new positive experiences. Out trainer thinks that Charlie will do well with puppies. Hershey is a 9 month old lab mix. She is pretty gentle with him.
Thanks Nigel and Kaiser Aus. She handled him in the house. He drank from her water bowl. They shared some treats and he nosed her food bowl. She didn't care. She guarded him from the trainer b/c she always takes Hershey away or at least that is what the trainer believes is happening. Nothing major Charlie tries to block Angie the trainer from getting Hershey leashed up.
Made me smile when I read about your progress!
Yay Charlie!!
