I encourage and train this behavior, or a side lean into legs, as the standard greeting for my dogs. I feel much less chance of them getting excited and jumping vs. A dog sitting in front of someone to be pet

Both of my dogs do this. It always reminded me of how cats will rub themselves against you as they walk by.
