Default Just how much exercise does your WGSL need?

Sorry for two topics within 24 hours

What exercise, daily and weekly, do you give your West German Show Line dogs? I've heard answers from either end of the spectrum, and really just want to get a good feel for what to expect. There are loads of answers on this forum from working line owners, and owners who have multiple dogs. So this post is directed at people who have just one dog, a WGSL, or who have experience having just one!

I have a singleton WGSL male. Ideally, I aim for daily outdoor exercise. We go for a run every second day, and go for trail walks on the non run days. I also incorporate training throughout the day, not necessarily always formal stuff, but also general manners to get access to stuff he wants. You can tell when he hasn't been exercised - he looks for things to keep himself occupied with like harassing the cat, stealing things so that he can hoard them in the lounge, sniffing out tissues, and generally being a pain in the butt.

Honestly, I feel that exercise-wise he's really easy to keep. At 18months old, he's more or less as intense as he's gonna get. A morning run = perfectly behaved doggy for the rest of the day. He's doesn't get lazy or tired, he's just content to chew a bone or chill out in the computer room with whoever's there.

My previous shepherd was half SL and half WL, and we had pretty much the same routine.

I guess I've been lucky

EDIT: A family friend had a female (byb, but probably more show heritage than WL), and she needed at least 2hrs per day. She could easily go for longer, but people have other things to do in their day

I'm really lucky with Cas, also. We're blessed to live on 13 acres with horses and he's up for anything, but happy just being with me (or his mom when I'm not home) and doing whatever we're doing. He gets enough exercise just being busy, but for him it's more about doing his job than the level of activity. I've had WL dogs that did require more structured activity, so the answers can be all over the spectrum.

I play frisbee with my WGSL bitch 3 - 4 times a day....10-20 minute sessions...2-3 walks ( short maybe 1/2 to 3/4 miles each ) during the day...2-4 training sessions a day..nothing is too long. Now that the weather is coming around, I'll be taking her to the lake every other day and have her fetch and swim...glad she likes to swim as I believe it is wonderful exercise for her.

I have a WGSL/ working line cross. He gets maybe 5-10 minutes of formal training a day, and a few days a week he gets 1hr-3hrs of physical exercise. He settles well at home and has a great off switch, but I do not get out and exercise him every day.

We bike or walk 3 miles a day and she's still always ready to rock and roll when we get back to the house. So we'll occasionally throw in about another 15 minutes of fetch with the Chuck-It and/or obedience. Luckily, she has a good off switch, so even if it still isn't enough for her, she's not pinballing off the walls.

While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, john and his friend sally both spotted a dalmatian inside a truck with sirens, headed to put out a fire. State what the 2x4 is made of.
