Default Natural vs trained behavior?

We currently have a 3 yr old gsd and he is a great dog. We trained and socialized alot as a puppy. Well we are looking to get another. My question is did we get lucky or is it from all the training and socializing?

We are wanting to rescue and give a dog a chance. Our current boy is a loving pet, he listens, learns quickly (sometime to quickly for his own good)... Should I expect the same from another gsd?

I think each dog no matter what the breed is an individual. If a second dog is added, it is best to try to keep an open mind and not expect the new dog to be the same as the old one.

^agreed, all three of mine are different, including my litter mates, they all have their own personalities and quirks. You might try fostering and then foster fail if you decide the dog is a good match.
