Adding a third dog

Hi all,

I'm Ann, proud servant to one purebred GSD female (1 yr.) and one gsd/golden retriever mix.

A friend of mine's father can no longer keep his 2.5 yr old female GSD due to a debilitating stroke. He's going straight from the hospital to the nursing home, so my friend asked if I'd like his dog. She's known to be great with adults, kids, babies, cats, and birds. She's apparently never been around other dogs though.

Any tips for making a peaceful introduction? I know to introduce them in neutral territory, on leash, one at a time.
Any other suggestions, other than keeping the new dofdog on leash in the house as she adjusts?

You may not need to keep her on the leash. I had to keep my current dog on the leash to control him. Females together can be dangerous, are both fixed?

how are your dogs with other dogs? i know goldens are usually indifferent, but GSD'S can be either way. its harder to indroduce another adult female vs a pup. i would definitely think hard about it. maybe you could introduce them on nuetral territory one at a time first. even then i don't think it will be easy once the new adult dog comes to the house. might be manageable in time, but will take work. hopefully the new girl is submissive which would help. best of luck!
