Gorgeous boy, absolute nightmare on the lead! Please help :(
We adopted a nine month old german shepherd, Ghost, three months ago. He'd spent his entire life locked in a kitchen with an even larger dog with absolutely zero training.
This has worried me in itself as I've read the most important stages of gsd training happen within the first eight months.
So far, we've successfully crate trained him, taught him basic commands, as well has how to play (honestly the most rewarding part for me! There was nothing sadder than seeing a dog who didn't know how to play) We exercise him daily in a large field, where he is usually on his own. We have friends round the corner with a collie shepherd cross and the two enjoy playing together regularly.
We live in a small North Yorkshire village where loads of people have dogs of all sizes, it's not the dogs that are the problems, he barks and goes crazy if we see absolutely any other living thing, even in the car!
I know I'm going to have to do some serious training while walking him around the village, but I don't want to start teaching him wrong or inadvertently encouraging bad behaviour so right now we just avoid it. What tips and advice does anyone have?

He sounds like a great dog so I'm thinking he's just being a 'rude' pup that needs continued socialization and training rather than really an aggressive dog.
Are there classes/instructors in your area you can see this week (sooner the better to start getting a handle on this before a bad habit gets worse)???
