Default Indoor games

What indoor games do you play with your dogs? On lazy Sundays when we don't feel like leaving the house, Dex can get really bored and whiny. We have figured out that a quick game of hide-and-seek is the perfect distraction. We started off with simple hiding places, but he quickly had us figured out and we are fast running out of ideas on even the complex hiding spots! Usually finds us on the first try.

Small obedience sessions work. I also have actual games...like the dog brick, dog casino, and dog tornado that I put treats in and they have to find the treats.

we do small 5 minute obedience sessions when its rainy outside. or i use the time to teach her something new. currently i am working on "stay" while i disappear around a corner. it's working pretty good.

yesterday we started a new game of "slithering". i sat on the floor with a chew bone. i bent my knees and planted my feet on the floor. with the bone, i would coax her under my knee then back between my legs then under the other knee. she's pretty affectionate was loving the physical contact. today she put her paw on me a few times. the paw means "come down on the floor with me" i knew she was asking to play the same game again.

sometimes i just toss a rubber ball around. she loves to slide on the kitchen floor.

other times i hide toys under sofa cushions or rugs. she loves to find things.

Thanks for all the ideas. I can just imagine Dex doing very well with the slithering exercise because he loves physical contact and he already would worm in under your knees when you are sitting on chair with your feet propped up on the table crossbars. Needless to say that once he's in there, feet aren't on the crossbar anymore... It's more like knees by your ears then!

"when we don't feel like leaving the house", that's funny.
you can train indoors. i play "find it". i hide something
then send my dog to "find it". you could teach him "go to (insert name)".
the person doesn't have to hide to play "go to". i teach "back up" in the house because i use a wall. does your dog door dash. you could
teach him not to door dash when the door is propped open. you could
teach him not to counter surf or take food when it's available (if you leave
food on the table or the floor).

@doggiedad... "Find it" is working like a charm.... And I also get to work on his stay command while I'm at it. Thank you!
