German Shepherd Dog Forums - Wahoo! Got Ranger to walk across a bridge!

Ranger was dropped from the Seeing Eye program because he is afraid of stuff - particularly bridges and grates. I have been working on grates and he has gotten a little better, but before today I had not taken him to a bridge to work on that fear. (Been too cold or I've been too busy to drive to a bridge) today we drove to a small bridge. He enjoyed his walk at first, but he has been to this location before and knew what was coming so he totally balked and started pulling the opposite direction 30+ feet from the bridge. I put my back to the bridge, told Ranger to sit, backed up to the end of the lead, then held a treat and told Ranger to come. I repeated this until Ranger was at the bridge at which time, much to my surprise, he walked tentatively across. Now I was nervous that I wouldn't get back, LOL. Luckily, it was no problem. I did't try to do it again. I figure maybe tomorrow.
