One dog gone for the weekend, other one is freaking out!!
My husband and son went for a guys camping weekend and took Addie (the more stable of our two dogs) with them. K-Bar is here with my daughter and me. He is a very nervous dog anyway with a history of abuse and neglect. We may have screwed up by not "showing" him that Addie was leaving. He just woke up this morning and they were gone. Now he is pacing the house and whining constantly.
Is there anything I can do to help him calm down? I'm thinking Benedryl..? |
I would show K-Bar that just being with the you and your daughter is fun. I would tire him out by taking him for a long walk and playing with him. I would ignore his whining but I would yawn to calm him down. If I gave him anything, it would be Rescue Remedy - 4 drops in his water bowl.

Good idea, thank you. We will go for a walk on this beautiful sunny day!

I've read it takes about a day for the nerves to go away when someone in their pack leaves for a short amount of time. He will be fine c: stay calm yourself and go about your day. Make him forget that someone is missing by doing something or going somewhere extra special c:
