Can dogs escape through windown screen

If you left your dog at home alone, and your windows were open do you think its possible for them to destroy the screen and get out?

Yes

Did this ever happen to anyone would be a better question I guess lol

Absolutely....One day me and Lola were playing outside and I guess she decided it was a great idea to join my boys who we playing in the basement.

She shredded the screen in the basement window before I could do anything about it.

She's still crated when we leave the home but I would never trust a screen to keep her in while I was out.

Its never happened to me, but my GSD and my last Doberman could literally make their way out of anything. Since it doesn't take long to destroy an entire door..I think a window screen would be no match. Lol

OMG this has happened to me quite a few times while I was home and out. My boxer/ dobe would jump right through them like they were never there. He would also jump through my kitchen screen sliding doors he was a terror

I learned never to put anything passed them b/c when there's a Will there's a way. Never a good feeling when you go out and your friends call you up and say hey your dogs out and running all around thank goodness they were home and caught him and brought him home with them. I mean sheesh I only ran to taco bell for 10 mins, they used to call and joke with me all the time when I would go out and say blades out again and talk about heart attack city.. I definitely chalked that up to a lesson learned on my part ..

I know right, I would yell OMG I'm on my way home and they would say nah I was just calling to bust your chops. Just the panic of thinking your dog has escaped is the very reason why no windows left open and the are not allowed to be left in the backyard. I no longer take any chances :)

Yes. The only way I would leave a window open is from the top and even then just slightly. I've also had a dog go through the side of a window air conditioner.

Salem did two years ago, actually!

I was out of town and my dad was watching him. While I was gone he contracted a virus and had diarrhea and was vomiting. My dad stumbled onto the mess and began to clean it, opening the window to air the area out. A few minutes later Salem felt sick again, so he jumped out the window and through the screen (about 2.5 feet off of the ground) and fell about 4 feet to the ground outside (thank goodness we have a one story house!) and then went in to do his business.

My dad took him to the vet to get checked out and the vet told him that we have a very smart boy on our hands! :P
