Default Do they know?

I left early yesterday morning for almost 3 weeks, leaving Gaia home with my boyfriend. Usually, she's his cuddle partner so I didn't think it would be a problem.

I finally got to my grandparents house and had a frantic message that Gaia won't eat, look at him or move from the window seat (where she usually waits for me to get off work). It's only been a day and it's possible he's over reacting a bit, I did leave him pretty strict instructions but will she get out of this funk?

Him and I facetimed for a bit and that perked her up, he said she ate after that. But if we ever need to kennel her, I don't want to have to call so she'll eat. Is there a fix for this?

My poodle has SA (work in progress), last year I went away for two nights for the first time since I picked her up at 9 weeks

I was a wreck Very worried and texted my mom several times a day. First day she whined and wandered the house, looking out the window. She didn't eat the first day and freaked out at bedtime because I wasn't there. She slept with her "uncle" Simon who's her favourite person outside of me. Second day was much better, still fussy but not as worried. Did eat a bit but not her normal amount but same morose attitude

On the third day I came home and did I get a earful from her!! She barked and yipped my ear off.

Just keep to the same schedule as much as possible and don't worry too much about the eating, she'll eat when hungry. Remind your boyfriend that keeping his stress level down will help her as well and to ignore most fussing

Hopefully the time will pass quickly and you'll be back together soon

I don't think they know. Mine don't at least. But if I'm gone for more than a day they do figure it out, just not right away. I'll pray Gaia will be fine. Smokey stops eating when we leave him as well but he doesn't let himself starve. Zeeva blows her coat like none other, paces, and continuously knocks down the barrier from the stress. But in the end both are happy to see me and all goes back to normal.

This is true. I see it with our dogs. The same schedule does really help.
