Default Touching

My dog (7 1/2 Mo GSD) touches me with her nose about 1,000 times a day, maybe more. Sometimes she licks my bluejeans, I make her stop, and pretty soon she starts again. This is the 6th dog I've had as an adult and I can't recall any of the others being quite this nuts about touching. You think this is a phase, or quirk of hers, or has my memory slipped & it's just been too long since I've had a dog?

my use to touch us with his nose often. sometimes
he'll rub against us and keep moving. he'll lick you
wherever. i look at it as a sign of affection.

My rescue Tasha does the nose touching thing. Makes us nuts every time when getting dressed for work she has to nose every article of clothing we put on.

I think its the personality of the dog. She is the only one of my current group that does this.

I'm glad to hear it's not some known form of insecurity.

I think this is one of the gestures dogs use because they have no speech. An unexpected poke from a cold, wet nose always makes me go eek but to the dog it probably signals 'I'm here and I'd like some attention, please'.

Our GSD mix, Sampson, does the nose thing all of the time! We always say he's nudging people. He does it constantly. I've always thought it was kind of funny and just his way of letting us know he was there and in need of some attention.

Savor and cherish every single nudge and lick you get.

Some day, they will be gone, and they will never be back----no matter what you would give to have just one single one.
