Default Do dogs get bored?

My two haven't had a walk in a few days. All they've done is lounge around in the kitchen and occasionally be let out to do their business. I threw some kibble and the snow covered it so now they sniff/dig it out (really well) which keeps them busy for quiet some time. They haven't complained about not getting walk. So my question is...Do dogs get bored of not doing anything?

I've the worst head cold and sinus pressure for a few days now :c...

I suppose it depends on the dog-I couldn't get away with not walking my dog for even one day-he definitely let's me know when he's bored. My shih tzu foster on the other hand, enjoys sleeping too much to ever get bored!

Oh yes, that's why you see so many dogs who get destructive in the home.

Hope you feel better soon so you and the pooches can get back to their routine.

Oh yes. After a couple days of not doing anything, Jax will start torturing the cat. The Boxers are happy to be with people so they aren't to bad.

BUT...get rid of your cold before you worry about it. They'll be fine for a few days.

do you use a Neti Pot?

They will be fine...if you do use a neti pot, make sure you read the instructions. You can only use a certain kind of water or it can cause lots of problems.

If your dogs get bored, you will KNOW it, believe me. If they are just hanging out and dozing and puttering around quietly, they're fine, and thank your lucky stars you have dogs that will forgive you if you are sick for a few days.

If I play in the house with Lisl a lot and keep things interesting I can get away without a walk for a day.

After that she gets the zoomies.

We walk nearly every day though, even if it's just a 15 minute trip around the block. At least it gets her out of the house other than to poop.

My dog is too busy being vigilant to be bored, she is always on call. Even if nothing is going on she'll assign herself to "watch" our little Siamese strange boy and make sure the vacuum does not get him.

Our previous dog, a GSD/Aussie mix would definitely get bored with our walks. It was a challenge trying to find new and exciting places, especially at 6:30am.

Hope you feel better, drink lots of hot liquids and try a long, hot steamy shower.

i don't think they get bored to the point where
they want to be destructive. if they start to tear up
the house after not being walked for several days i think
that's a training issue. you can always play with them
indoors, train indoors, play "find it", etc.

feel better soon.

Default A lot like people

Some dogs are quite happy doing very little while others are in need of almost constant stimulation or they will create their own stimulation . . .usually destructive.

I have four dogs. Setting aside their ages, they are all quite different in how quickly they get bored. I have one dog, Peanut, who has always invented her own games, none of them destructive, and I have had to learn HER rules, lol. She is never bored. She's just so smart that she finds lots and lots of ways to entertain herself and everyone else. My other dogs are more typical and need me --or Peanut --to provide them with exercise and mental stimulation.
