Need input after attack
 

I need some help from the pros here. WD was attacked on the trail by a neutered mutt who was among thwo other dogs. A Labrador (may have been intact, not sure) male and a Poiner female approached WD and were appropriate with him. WD and the lab were rough housing back towards their owners where the mutt went into a full attack without having met WD personally.
WD fled and lied down and then we could end the fight. After that I told the owners I was going to walk WD along with them on leash to try to undo mental damage and they cooperated by leashing their dogs as well. We were able to walk all four dogs in each others presence on leash. WD was normal responsive to the clicker and took the treats.
When they all were realized that WD was maybe too rough in barging in their personal zone.
After that I took him to Petco and he saw a Labradoodle, intact male and responded normal like he always does; interested but easy to re direct to me.
This is my plan: to take him to his familiar dog park, never had a problem there or wait until we are back in agility on Saturday where all dogs are under control. My biggest fear is that he becomes dog aggressive. I am hopeful since his temperament is rock solid, so far.

you say this happened and then when you took him to a pet store he responded appropriately to another dog with no issues. Doesnt sound to me like you have anything to worry about honestly. Sounds like he recovered quickly and is no worse for wear.

This happened to my pup at sometime around 5 or 7 months old. (I can't remember, I'd have to seriously sit down and look at the calendar last year to try) It was two Old English Sheepdogs and they came charging at him off leash in an area they weren't supposed to be in. He immediately laid down to send of calming signals, and when the male approached appropriately, and Rocket got up and they were politely sniffing, the female suddenly attacked him. It took us a bit to catch the female (Rocket just started dodging her almost like he was playing a game) and she was going after him hard. It's lucky he was an agile little pup. Anyhow, I was worried but he was fine.

In fact, he has been "attacked" a few times and never shown any issues. I don't make a big deal about it and always praise him for ignoring and focusing on me. What you send down the leash is just as important, if not more. :)
