Gus is almost 1.5 years old and he still mostly squats when he pees. Occasionally he will hike his leg when he pees..but mostly squats. Is this normal for a male of his age? I guess sometimes he thinks he is a lady...
...and sometimes he doesn't.

Mine still squats and he is 5. He's never lifted his leg on anything but sniffs avidly at the pee-mail around the neighbourhood. He is a laid back and submissive guy, and that may be the root of the behaviour.

Tazor just started to lift his leg at one year. My last Shep squatted for 13 yrs til his last day. It didnt matter to me. My guess, if he feels like marking his territory he will.

Ranger has never lifted his leg! In fact, I posted a similar question to yours recently because I've never had a male dog who didn't lift his leg! Ranger is 2 1/2 years old. (And he not submissive at all.)
