Default My male still squats?

Gus is almost 1.5 years old and he still mostly squats when he pees. Occasionally he will hike his leg when he pees..but mostly squats. Is this normal for a male of his age? I guess sometimes he thinks he is a lady...

...and sometimes he doesn't.

Our 10 1/2 month old still squats. Has Gus been neutered? Jake has been and I often wonder if that makes a difference.

I thought it was quite a good guess, myself.

Mine still squats and he is 5. He's never lifted his leg on anything but sniffs avidly at the pee-mail around the neighbourhood. He is a laid back and submissive guy, and that may be the root of the behaviour.

Tazor just started to lift his leg at one year. My last Shep squatted for 13 yrs til his last day. It didnt matter to me. My guess, if he feels like marking his territory he will.

I'm sorry I don't have anything educated to say but I really got a kick out of "pee-mail"

Doesn't matter to us either way ... he's still our man even if he never lifts his leg

Ranger has never lifted his leg! In fact, I posted a similar question to yours recently because I've never had a male dog who didn't lift his leg! Ranger is 2 1/2 years old. (And he not submissive at all.)
