Jonas is the same way, he does what I call the stretch forward lean and pee's. It is quite hilarious if he gets any on him. He jumps a few feet in the air and cleans himself. He don't like being dirty

I knew a trainer who wouldn't let his dog lift his leg. I suppose he didn't want to allow marking-- so I am ok with Hans not doing it either. He kind of semi lifts one leg over the grass. Kinda funny.

Count your blessing! Benny can't figure out why it is ok to lift his leg on the outside tree and not the one inside with the colored lights

I've had male dogs that have gone their whole life without lifting their leg to pee. I've also had dogs that would attempt to mark every single tree or plant they walk by.

Given the choice of either... I'll take the dog that doesn't lift his leg.

Never understood the infatuation people get with having their dog lift it's leg. What's the big deal how a dog goes to the bathroom just as long as it doesn't happen in the house?

My male now doesn't lift his leg and the one before him did every now and then. I am happy that he squats and prefer it.

Either way, you lose. Leg lifter makes for dead plants and bushes, squatter makes for dead yellow patches on grass

Please don't litter. Neuter your pets!

Both of my dogs, (Shepherd and a Papillion) never lift their legs when peeing.
Not sure if this is valid, but I've heard that most male dogs will not lift their legs to pee unless they see another male dog doing it?

It seemed to be true with my past dog, but I'm sure that's not the case with everyone.

I'm not really worried about it though.
As long as he pees outside! xD

urinating and marking are two different things.
Urinating normally is standing or slight squat actually empties the bladder better .

I've had and still have male dogs that will squat on some things and lift their leg on others. I don't care either way if they lift their leg or not, pee is pee. I've also had a few females who will lift their leg when they pee.
