My puppy would sit like that and someone actually pointed it out to me that she was going to have hip problems simply by observing the way she was sitting just like the pic you have. But her "sit" position has been corrected so I don't really notice it anymore. Not to say she's not going to have hip problems but I wonder if it can also be a sloppy sit for now?

Looks more like to me that your puppy has "Puppy Sit".

Common affliction with puppies - they do grow out of it!

I call that the "lazy puppy sit". Normal and nothing to be worried about - they usually grow out of it.

Because you have a shepherd, be prepared for a life of "Oh his hips are bad" just because of the breed. I have even had someone say that about an OFA Good dog who was clearly fine.

You'll hear so many different versions of "sit" it will drive you nuts.

My first dog sat like that and yes, she had HD ... Kyleigh sat like that as a young pup, and does so every now and then ... at 17 months, there are no signs of HD and both parents are fine ...

Katya sits sloppy and lays sloppy unless she is in drive. Everyone said the same crap. I pennhip'ed her at 3 years of age and guess what, she is a .26/.28 which are awesome hips. The highest rating (>10th percentile) that pennhip reports. You can't see HD unless it is debilitatingly severe

I think one of the puppies in the last photo might be dead lol
