Default WEIRD, Unexpected Behavior! Anyone Ever See This?

Had my daughter's GSD over for about 36 hours. (Zelda is littermate to Teddy, and lived at my house for a few days until they could take her. I slept with both pups on the sofa, so I guess you could say that Zelda and I bonded. The dogs have played together previously, but not in the last three or four months.) I only see Zelda once or twice a month since they live an hour away.

Well, my daughter and I took the gsds over to the dog park where I thought we could reintroduce them on netural ground. UGH

Teddy resource guarded me. (Runs up and places herself between me and dog. Never hackles up or barking. More like she checks things out and then goes on her way.)

Hilda resource guarded me, too. No, not my daughter. Me. Hackles up. Barking. Scary.

Needless to say, they stayed in crates in separate rooms at my house, and went out separately. They were civil when I wasn't around. Even sat side by side at the door waiting to come in a couple of times before I told everyone not to let them out together.

What the heck? Anyone experience anything like this?

Is "Hilda" a typo and you meant Zelda? I'm having trouble parsing your story otherwise.

I have known some dogs who would resource guard almost any person, or who would do the behavior if another dog showed interest in guarding something (for example, my mom's dog doesn't really care one bit about toys and doesn't play with them--unless another dog tries to get them, then she guards them). It could be something like that, more about competitiveness than about you in particular. Or, she could think that you're her person too since you did care for her and she does see you regularly, if infrequently.

It sounds like a stress response.
Gently discourage them from doing it.
Lots of down time, crate/rotate time, get a gate if necessary.
