German Shepherds and seasonal Depression?
Have any of you guys had a dog that once the winter hit, they seemed depressed?
Sam just seems sad. :(. He doesn't want to play with his ball or his tire, and he mopes and lays around all day long. He eats fine, poops fine. Every now and then I can get him excited to go on a car ride, but for the most part he is just sad!! |
I don't know. My dogs have never shown that. Is he healthy?
|
Actually, my dogs are opposite. When the cold weather hits they go nuts for a couple of weeks. All of their names change to "Seriously?"

Nikkita, he's not unhealthy, but he isn't the healthiest....his hips hurt some and maybe they hurt more because it's cold? My other German Shepherd is a hoot as well!! Doesn't seem to mind, and has these facial expressions to die for, and since coming into the house she seems to have mastered the "leap out of the way" maneuver, if you know what I mean. Can't catch her for nothing! |
Winter & cold temps charge my dogs up. When it's hot out they don't really play much. As soon as we get that chill in the air watch out, sounds like I have grizzly bears in the yard. It's most noticable with Kiya, she turns into a different dog, plays with the ball & play fights with the other dogs.

Same here, mine peps up for cold weather.
You're in "the desert", you say--maybe your dog has acclimated more to a hot climate that the dogs of these other posters? |
