Default Kitty Deceased-new pup-Advice Please on intro

My Cat Esme had to be put down today. It wasn't entirely unexpected, and for a kitty with neurological damage who couldn't jump/climb/or move fast, who was eternally a cranky cat and demanded the best of everything, She had a pretty good life I think. I will miss the cranky old girl.

However, I forgot that the if I do not keep the same number of animals at my house, it's possible that the cosmos will be thrown out of whack. The Universe prevented this disastrous occurance by placing in front of my car a german shepherd puppy of around 10 months, with no collar, ID or anything else on a road around 2 miles away from the Vet's Office.

Since this all happened after 5:30 I haven't had a chance to check for microchips and due to various chores, won't have a chance for several days. The pup is not the problem. He is a remarkably sweet, good natured, quiet dog. The problem will be Lycan, who is a jerk with other dogs and wants to show every other male dog that he is the boss by rolling them over on their back and scaring them into submission. I'd rather not have to pull him off a terrified, screaming puppy. Since I have no way of introducing them in a neutral setting, I could use some suggestions, please

Jelpy

goodbye little Esme cat. You were a good kitty in your cranky, demanding way. I hope you're going where they give you wings so you don't have to worry about your damaged legs.

I'm sorry about your kitty. May she rest in peace.

And we need pics of the new addition

Sorry about your cranky miss kitty.
Have you posted any thing on craigs list about finding the puppy? I would also check with the animal shelter they should have a chip scanner there. I'd post flyers too. Leerburg has a introduction recommendation on his site. I high suggest you read and follow the steps. This way you introduce them correctly. I had an issue with my two at first this really helped.

Becareful scene you know Lycan doesn't like other males. Keep them separated for now. Also you don't know if this dog is ill or is UTD on shoots.

P.S. Where are pics of the lil' angel?

First, since this is a stray, I would not do introductions immediately. You don't know if this dog is sick.

Second, have you looked for his owner?

um....lets see...found doggie at 5:45 PM, fed the horse, swung by store to pick up dinner for fuzzies, home by 6:49 PM. Nope. No chance to place a craigslist add, hunt for owners, find an emergency vet who will charge me $100 + just to check for a microchip, put an add in the local paper or knock on neighborhood doors searching for the owners. That will have to happen tomorrow, earliest.

Sorry, didn't mean to snap. just exhausted. And you're right except that i don't have a lot of choice. It's not a big house and we're pretty much gonna be jammed together 'til I find the owner. keeping them far away enough to prevent a squabble may not be possible.

No, I"m sorry. You've had a rough day. I would crate the puppy until I had someone to help them greet. He might be overwhelmed and scared. Do you have a room that you can close the door? That might work also.

That's probably a good idea. I can put him in the spare bedroom. He ain't scared though. for a pup he's remarkably calm and gentle. In fact, he's much more calm and easy going than Lycan, who is still a ball of hyperactive energy. So far, the pup has gotten along with all the other dogs, showed only curiousity about the horses and regards the kitty with interest but not aggression.

I don't see why you can't get up a quick craigslists add if you have time to post on a forum. I just hate hearing about lost dogs I would be feeling sick right now if one of my guys was missing. I have been lucky enough to have found the owners of the lost dogs I have found always on the same night.
