Default Few General Questions for First GSD

Hi guys nice to meet you all,

I recently introduced myself in the new people area incase you have not heard of me yet.

Ive got a few questions, our puppy zoe is 3 months old.

Im not sure if she is attached to us perhaps people with experience can explain to me?.

She always follows us around the house wherever we go (unless she is absolutley wreckd she just stays put), but if she wants to sleep she always sits away from us about a metre or 2 away as long as she can see us (im not sure if i should pet her while she is asleep? I think that would be annoying?? I guess i would get annoyed if somebody pet me while i was asleep) , is this a sign of love? or is it her being a bit aloof and independent?. Im not sure, when we come home she goves crazy jumping all over us or if we put her outside she will cry wanting to come back in. She listens well when we train her, she has learnt to shake hands, sit , and stay if i put food infront of her in under 4 days of having her so she is very smart.

I love her ALOT ... I just hope we got ourself a puppy that does the same to us

Oh and and she always comes to our room and sleeps near our bed where we have set her up...

She also barks at people when they see them and when people are walking outside our house, is that sign of her trying to protect us? or protecting her new property?

Just some questions for the educated/experienced GSD owners.

THanks guys

Respectfully,

Ariyahn

Sorry you haven't received any replies!

Sounds like your pup is just being a "velcro-pup," which is the term used around here for the pup following you around. Enjoy it! It's a compliment! She's bonding to you. She might always do this. My nearly eight month old still follows me around. Personally, I love it.

As far as the protecting part, I will have to defer to someone else who knows more. I've been told there is no way a pup so young is protecting anything -- that it is a fear thing. Are you socializing this dog? If not, do so!

Are you in classes? If not, enroll!!!!

Best of luck!!!!!!!!! Hoping this will bump your post up.

Hi there, thanks for that response..

Velcro-pup interesting - i like it .

I see , i took her for a walk not long ago and i had to pick her up cause she was scared to walk past a fence where 2 dogs were.

I have not enrolled her into puppy school yet there are no classes until 2012 ..

And same goes with dog social activites, i did take her along to christmas where she got along well with another LAB, however i took her to my aunties and she had a lab but that lab was ten times bigger but submitted to Zoe (my GSD) so Zoe used this to her advantage and j ust terrified the lab, so i coudnt leave zoe there.. But i guess socialing well help with that. i mean she is a good girl i love her just working her out .

I call out to her she doesn't come unless obviously if they get the gold aka food lol

Thanks again for the response.
