Default Help

OK, so Dylan is my 6 year old GSD. He's even tempered, great with kids, other dogs, basically anyone and everyone. HOWEVER, he has some very annoying intensified GSD habits. #1 Dylan has a large vocabulary of words that he understands and if anyone says "ball" or "stick" its over. He is OBSESSED with his ball. He will not take his eyes off of it if i'm holding it. He listens perfectly as long as i have the ball, but he isn't being obedient to me but rather the ball. #2 HE IS SUCH A WHINER - if i try to take my other dog (6 yr old beagle) anywhere he completely goes spastic. Its a high pitched wail that he can cary on forever. He whines for many reasons and you cannot make him stop. He has a very strong herding drive. I love to ride quads but you cannot start one up around him; he will bite the tires and herd you if you can get out of park. (on a side note, he will ride on a 4-wheeler). #3 This is easily my worst complaint and biggest problem. He is the model house dog as long as no one comes over and you don't take him anywhere accept his own back yard. As soon as he sees his leash he starts whining and getting extremely excited. There is really no calming him down. I took the dog whisperers advice and waited until he was calm to put on the leash and guess what...an hour later we were still waiting bc if he can see the leash he is freaking out to get out the door. Now, say we make it outside with the leash on; he will not walk on a leash. The dog is **** near perfect on a nature excursion off leash. He wont leave me and he comes when called. but he finds leashes very frustrating i think because i'm not moving fast enough for him. I've tried playing fetch with him before walks and it does NO good. He still pulls my arm off and i'm constantly reminding him to heel which he will do for 1/100 of a second before he is right back to pulling....i just want a dog i can take long walks with on a loose leash....HELP

Also, Dylan is NEVER been aggressive accept for my husband. He likes to challenge my husband for some reason and has shown aggression towards him on two occasions. #1 My hubby flipped me with a towel (playfully) as dylan came around the corner of the bathroom door....one hubby with a shredded towel hiding in the tub later and it is clear Dylan does not appreciate this type of behavior. #2 hubby thought it would be amusing to come outside in his Gilly suit and come at my daughter and I (just to see what Dyl would do) well he found out this is also not acceptable behavior. Dylan came out of no where and chased him down, took his legs out from underneath him, and wouldnt let him up until i told him to let go. He was never trained to do this. I feel like it was his own fault, but there are still some hard feelings there. IN OTHER WORDS HE IS THE PERFECT DOG accept for the above three points....#3 being the biggest problem for me....i just want to walk my dog without getting stressed out enough to have a frustrated break down.
