Default Shoe eating...at age 4+??

Scarlett still eats our shoes if she chooses to. She will usually do it while I am at work, but she has been known to do it while we are upstairs getting dressed or just in the other room. As if eating leather shoes (belts, purses, wallets, checkbooks...) wasn't irritating enough, she will always "return" the items in a less attractive form usually between 4 and 5 a.m. the next day.

I really don't want to kennel her while I am at work, but I think that may be the only option again. She is almost 5 years old. She gets walked, stimulated, fed, loved, and played with daily. Beyond using bitter apple on every leather item we own, what other suggestions do you have??

I can spray bitter apple on our shoes daily if that will work. We do make a real effort to put them up or in closets, but even when they are out, she doesn't always go for them....just some times.

I have to make sure I leave nothing laying around. Lakota will be 2 in January and she still finds much pleasure in chewing my stuff. I took out my nice black leather gloves, later when I put them on I couldn't help but notice the buttons looked different on one glove. After careful examination I realized they were chewed, tooth marks clearly evident. Have no idea when she did that.

If you come to my house, you will find shoes on the kitchen counter. Though, the dogs are improving.

After having my most favorite comfy shoes chewed up by a 2 year old, who hadn't done anything like that for at least the year prior, all shoes are still up.... six years later. Just habit now, I guess. I never did find another pair of shoes that comfortable. They're still wearable, but not very pretty.

I have actually worn them a bit chewed up in the past. They were my favorite clogs. This pair was a replacement, after she finished off the last ones. I never really liked them (they were not as comfy as the originals...sigh) but I didn't want to go buy a new pair. Now I have to. UGH...

Am I going to have to wear faux leather clogs from now on?? Oh horror of horrors.

Jazz likes to chew my dvd's when I'm gone so he's still being crated probably until he's 3 years old. Then we'll do a test run with him again.

The first dvd he ever destroyed was my Dog Whisperer season 1, lol.

Did you mail the chewed up disc to The Dog Whisperer?
