nice looking dog. good job training. after a while
turn it up a notch. have him stay while your not in his view. add some distractions. have him stay and have someone call him or pick up his leash and give it a tug and call him or offer him a treat and try to move him. don't rush your training. little steps at a time.

Very good except the multiple commands... Sit, Stay then you keep repeating Stay.
To me/my dogs there is only 1 command.. Sit! or Down! (beginning of the exercise) they are to remain sitted or down until they are released (end of exercise)... Ok! or Free! whatever you want to use. What happens if you are out of site and you can't keep telling the dog.. Stay! Stay! That's what he will be used to right? |

The "sit" is a sit until I tell you different, just like the "Down" . However, being my hypocritical self a little..... I do use a "wait" command at home, for things like waiting at the top of the stairs until I am down, or "wait" at the door before I let you in. This is more of a casual command, meaning that the dog can walk around or move around, but not leave the area that he is in. |

I realize that your focus was on the stay command but you let him completely ignore your sit command and then told him "down" after he was already down. Same with the end. I've been guilty of accepting a down instead of stay as well even though I know better. If you told him sit, he should sit. Don't settle for a down or pretty soon "sit" will actually mean lay down to him.
He had a great stay!
