Default At what age does your dog starting hugging the floor?

I think mine started at around 2. She is full of life and energy whenever called upon but the rest of the time she is zonked out. She can run circles around other dogs but she can probably sleep circles around them too.
I was working when we had our previous dogs so I assume they were sleeping all day too, just didn't see it.
The dichotomy is amazing.

I don't know what Sasha was like as a pup but she's two and she can be a ball of energy if I want her to be. She'll be my constant companion all day in the yard or in town, but other days she'll just zonk out pretty much the whole day. My golden was the exact opposite. I'm not sure he knew what a nap was until he was about 8 years old.

I think I have the opposite problem here... I'm amazed when my dog is asleep. This dog is like a machine.

A year! Rio is a sloth in a GSD's body. Honestly she is so laid back she almost stops. If she is on her chair you can bet she wont wake up for anything. I have a member of the very special group called "Lazy Shepherds"
This is her ALL THE TIME!

Well, all of my GSDs spend their days with me at our daycare and private dog park. I usually get back to the house around 7pm and all of them come in the door, find a cozy spot and crash. Even the pups. My youngest is now 10 mos old and I had the easiest time house-training her since I think she was just too tired to get into mischief at night. I would have to wake her up around 11pm to go out for a potty break and then she would come back in and flop right back down.
Now during the day in the daycare with all the other dogs, she is a whirling dervish and the lead dog in random speed trials. It has made for an easy upbringing.
So mine usually sleep for about 13 or so hours a day if you include the lunchtime nap.
