Aloha, Nimai, my new 10 month GSD, really sleeps a lot. In the morning we go out for 1/2 to 3/4 hour walk/run and when he comes back he wants to sleep most all day. At 5pm he gets second wind and wants to do his puppy running, stealing, mischief things and I spend 3/4 hour and tire him out. Is this typical? My late 7yr old Rasa, on the other hand was go go go, any time day or night, lets go. Full asleep anytime and in 2 seconds go go go.
So is this normal puppy behavior? francis |

You might just have a low energy/low drive dog. Has he always been like this? Have there been any changes in her routine as she's gotten older?
My pup, Luna is about six and a half months and she's fairly low energy. She's excited in the mornings and at night. For the majority of the day, she's content to relax and follow me about, or just sleep. I had her taken to the vet just in case for worms/parasites or other issues, but the vet gave her a clean bill of health and said she was just a low key dog.

Dogs sleep a LOT. They are capable of playing hard and working hard but also sleeping hard.
The alternative is tearing up the place just for something to do. After all, they can't read or program the computer. |
