Unhappy being along gives her hives?

I wrote earlier about Ziva pulling her hair out..well it seems that wasn't the case..not really. She's getting hives when she's alone in her crate when we're not home. She spends most of the day playing with our son or with us so she's only in her crate when she has to be (when we're not home, our bedtime or I'm doing something that a puppy just can't be part of like bringing tons of groceries in or washing the floor)She *might* in there an hour total in daylight hours. I've been giving her benadryl twice a day for the last 3 days with some improvement. (I wasn't giving it to her ever 8 hrs since I don't know I could..I am as of today) To stop her from chewing/scratching at the hives I'm thinking to get her an e-collar to wear in the crate so that she can heal...no collar in the rest of the house since she doesn't do it. What I'm wondering is, is there anything I can do for her to stop the behavior as a whole? She's not even a year old (til Dec.) and isn't ready to be out 100% of the time yet.

I'd make sure there isn't something in the crate that she's allergic to, you cleaning it out with some kind of soap or other cleanser that may cause an issue?

Otherwise, I'd generally be way upping her exercise. Time for those miles of off leash activity so she'll just want to sleep.

Plus, you may want to keep her hungry and start trying out those 'toys for active' dog type things. I know I love the Premier Purple Squirrel Dudes for my dogs, can put a ton of their mealtime kibble in it (over 1/2 cup) plus yummy treats to make it more interesting.

Kongs are too easy..

I agree with MaggieRoseLee, make sure she's not allergic to anything but also up the exercise to make sure when she goes into the crate, she's so tired all she does is sleep.

May sound silly but my mom breaks out BAD when she stresses or has anxiety. She recently was facing some possible health problems and a couple days before her doctors appointment she broke out all over her body and her face swelled up as if she'd been stung by 50 bees! I don't see why a dog couldn't be the same way. Maybe she has anxiety or stresses in the kennel? I'd think if that's the case, then a LOT of exercise should help settle her. Maybe even work on putting her in for a couple minutes, pulling her out. Putting her in, pulling her out. Ect. Just kind of start with being in the room and then leave to another room, then outside the house, then down the road, ect. Just so she gets used to being in the kennel? :/
