reactive dogs on leash question

Hey

I have a question my dog use to like other dogs well always kinda iffy shes not dog aggressive but shes moody

recently as she matures tho she has no interest in meeting other dogs anymore and doesnt care about them

i noticed tho sometimes people are letting their dogs off leash where they are not suppose to they use to approach my dog but now dogs do not approach her

1 dog ran towards her to greet her but then it stopped dead in its tracks and turned direction and bolted into the woods and the owner lost the dog it spooked at my dog starring at her not sure what happend but it went to greet my dog and freaked out half way and ran away fast

other dogs come up to my dog she stopps them by giving them warning barks

my question is are dogs smart enough to know better? do they know what dogs they can go up to and what dogs they cant? something about my dog telling them to stay away from her? every dog seems to keep about 30 feet away from her. they start go come towards us but she warns them and they stop. My dogs never offleash.

i'm not sure all dogs are 'smart enough' to NOT race up to other dogs, but I do know dogs give off 'signals' that other dogs pick up on

Sounds like your girl is giving them the "signal" whether by staring or barking, the approaching dogs are "getting" it, and not approaching
