Default Stairs Fear

Aloha, I have adopted a nervous 10 month old Male only this last Monday. He is no longer nervous around me, but one thing I need help with is his fear of stairs and old elevator. He came from a farm way out in the country with only horses and cows and other dogs and has had no stairs and no weird noises to deal with. I can see his mind working overtime to file in his file cabinet all the new things here.

The one thing that I am impatient with is his fear of the stairs and the outside noisy elevator. Since I am in a wheelchair, and all the office and living activity is on the second floor, I need to go down to the ground level and back to the second level several times a day using the elevator. He is afraid of it and also the stairs and he really needs to go down in the evening once and up in the morning once at least for walks, potty play time etc. I though just having him watch and "miss me" would be enough to coax him into following me, but not and offering treats/bribery is not working either. Sometimes he will put 2 paws on the elevator and I am expecting success the next time of all paws and away we go, but the next time he will not come within 5 feet of the elevator. I know he is afraid but what is the best method to get him to get over it? I am getting frustrated and impatient and do not want to show it, so I would appreciate any help.
(I know 3 days here is not enough time to expect miracles)

Ok day four. Nimai is so proud of himself, now he is flying up and down the stairs. (now my problem is making sure he is not going too fast.) He is working up his courage to use the elevator as now he lays on it when it is not in use.
