Default Afraid to go to the bathroom all of a sudden

Hi All,

It has been a while since i posted and in that time Sasha has developed into a stable and confident 14 month old GSD. Only one problem has occured and it happened this past weekend. She was out in the morning going to the bathroom like she normally does. She came back in and all was fine. 2 hours later her nose started to swell and then we noticed her eye had swelled also. Right then I knew she had been stung. I took her to the vet for them to check her out to make sure it was nothing more, and so it wasn't and she was given a shot of Benedryl. So, all had been fine Saturday afternoon and evening as well as Sunday morning, until I went to let her out around noon time and she would not leave the deck to go to the bathroom. Mind you this dog cannot wait to go outside normally. Now she will barely go off the deck and when she does she goes and stands near one of our gates to the yard and does not move. She has not gone to the bathroom for alomost a day now. I am starting to get concerned that something has scared her and that she fears going outside with getting stung.

Any suggestions to help get her and I through this would be greatly appreciated.

Oh dear, poor girl! Can you take her out front or on a walk until you can get her over her fear?

To get her over her fear I would go outside with her and take her favorite toys and treats. Throw a big party for every step she moves into the yard and really have a good time out there with her. Hopefully after a few days of that she will forget about the trauma of the sting.

Sometimes by going out there with her will re-insure her that all is well. Just like what Ruth has said to try to make her not think of the bad and when she starts to have fun in the yard again she will get over it
