Recently, I have run into several people that say their dog is "dog aggressive". We will be on our walk, and someone with a dog will see us approach. Their dog is trying to come over and sniff Wolfie. There is no barking, hackles raised,or lunging involved. At the most, I see the dog pulling towards Wolfie. The dog owners say, "oh my dog is dog aggressive, so I don't let him/her go near other dogs". I say ok, and keep walking, and they suddenly change their mind and say, " Well, he/she doesn't seem to be acting badly now." Then they let their dog come up and sniff Wolfie. I have had more than a few people tell me that they are amazed that their dog is being so good with Wolfie, and they are usually really nasty with other dogs. Some have told me that it's because Wolfie has such a great demeanor, and is so calm and gentle with their dog. I happen to think that's a lie. I think that they see Wolfie coming, and are afraid that he's going to hurt their dog, just from the looks of him. Then they make up a story that their dog has a problem, so I won't let Wolfie near their dog. When they see the wagging tail, they change their minds. Do people do this to you and your dog on walks? I socialize Wolfie every chance I get, so he is good with other people and dogs. I just think they see a GSD and are afraid.

Dogs can give off signals we humans don't notice or understand. It's possible he is wooing them with some secret doggie words.
![]() Some dogs take offense only to certain dogs, and feel like they're being issued a challenge from the very existence of that other dog. I once knew a dog who was friendly with dogs his size or smaller, but would aggressively go after dogs that were bigger than he was.

Wolfie has been attacked by 2 Yorkiepoos. They launched themselves at him. My daughter owns one of the yorkiepoos that attacked Wolfie. He sees Wolfie and he goes beserk. Wolfie just stands there and wags his tail, even when he got bit.
